This method is the result of my personal healing journey combined with over a decade of clinical experience. After healing myself fully from chronic fatigue, chronic lyme disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and fibromyalgia, I came to understand what it takes to heal. Not just to feel better, but to DEEPLY heal. Physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Of course, my journey like anyone else’s will never be complete, but I’m grateful to be in a place where I’ve gathered enough information and experience to be able to help others on their own health and healing journey. Each person’s path and health needs are unique, but there is a foundational roadmap that can be applied to each journey and it is consistently effective. Healing is possible. D.

D.E.L.I.G.H.T.S

diet & digestion

We are what we eat. That part is familiar to most people, even if not fully appreciated. Nutrition is a core foundation of wellness, so it’s a good starting point! We are also what we digest and assimilate. Said another way: We are not just what we eat, we are what we ABSORB from what we eat! Eating a healthy diet, in a healthy way, and in a way that can be assimilated for optimal nutrition is not a one- size-fits-all recommendation, but it’s an essential starting point for each person on their healing journey. If this is not addressed at the beginning, healing is an uphill battle as our bodies will lack the nourishment and energy it needs to thrive.

emotions & energetics

We are how we feel, how we move through what we feel. Many are aware that their emotional health is essential to overall wellness. Like nutrition it’s a cornerstone of wellness and it is impossible to thrive when we are emotionally burdened. Culturally, we don’t talk as much about our energetic health which is similar but different and profoundly impactful. Energetic health takes into consideration our energy bodies and how our energetic field interacts with the world around us and the relationships we are in. There are many systems of energy medicine and practices. Here we practice Acupuncture and Qi Gong as tools for energetic wellness because they are extraordinarily powerful healing modalities. A healthy energy body will trickle down into a healthy physical and emotional body. It’s all connected. WE are all connected.

 

 

L.

Lifestyle.

How we react, how we respond how we live is equal parts art and science. We are taught lifestyle habits as little ones, and we often carry these habits into adulthood. It is our privilege and opportunity to reinvent our habits. Our stress responses, our choices in diet, exercise, and substances matter. Our sleep habits, relaxation habits, and thought patterns matter. How often we laugh and find joy in our lives matters. Are you nourishing your relationship with your body mind and spirit, your relationship with your loved ones and with the world around you? Or are you just trying to get through the day using the same habits you used long ago? To heal we have to be willing to change.

 

 

I.

Infections & Immunity

What gets in, and how we defend against the inevitable impacts our wellness and our vitality. Our immune system is complex and deeply interconnected with all other systems. It can be weakened or strengthened based on how all other systems of the body are functioning as well as our lifestyle and dietary choices. Sometimes the immune system, for reasons based on its own wisdom and its interconnectedness with other systems, turns against the body and we develop auto-immunity. Additionally, the status of our immune system directly impacts our ability to defend against infectious insults. Often times, we are not able to completely clear infections with our own immune response - when that happens, infections can be come stuck, chronic or latent, simmering under the surface in a way that impacts how we feel and how our other systems function. Rebalancing the immune system and clearing infection is possible and can be done in a gentle and holistic way.

 

 

G.

Gut Wisdom & Flora

The enteric nervous system. The second brain. The home of butterflies and knots- an ancient 6th sense housed in the soft power of the belly. Wait, didn’t we talk about Diet and Digestion above? Yes, but the Gut is SO important to our overall wellness that it deserves more attention and a whole other letter. With gut wisdom and flora, we evaluate and optimize the microbiome. We also explore how we move food and nutrients through our digestive tract and how our gut impacts our brain, mood and immune system. We evaluate how stress and lifestyle impact our gut and vice versa. I often recall an old adage from the early years of my training: “When in doubt, treat the gut.” This has never steered me wrong.

 

 

H.

Hormones

The spell binding synergy of that which keeps us moving, evolving, growing, cycling, and vital. The endocrine system is a brilliant and complex system within the body that powerfully impacts how we feel. As everything is connected, our hormones are impacted by all of the other systems of the body and, in return, impacts the other systems. If our hormones are out of balance (including blood sugar, adrenal hormones, thyroid and sex hormones, etc.) we can feel either minimally or profoundly out of kilter. There are so many times someone will have labs done and told that “everything looks fine” when, in fact, levels are not optimal. Rebalancing this system through improving lifestyle, nutrition, energetics, structure and so on can make a profound difference. Sometimes someone needs. shift in diet and correction of a nutritional deficiency, sometimes someone benefits from a medication. Either way, optimizing hormones = optimizing health.

 

 

T.

Toxins

Environmental. Emotional. Habitual. Relational. Toxins are, unfortunately, pervasive in our environment and our life. So much of modern medicine focuses on putting medications into the body. Sometimes health is better achieved when you get something out of the body or out of your life. This section is about starting with awareness of what personal exposures may be impacting wellness and what to do about it. Awareness is key; sometimes avoidance is necessary. Detoxification of what doesn’t serve us - whether that’s physical or emotional - is life changing.

 

 

S.

Structure & Function

The architecture, the scaffolding. Structure dictates function. In other words, the physical architecture of our bones, muscles, and fascia can determine how well our body and vital organs function. Physical injuries, stress and tension can dramatically impact how we feel. Similarly, all other systems can impact our structure. It’s a fine dance and we need to support all systems in concert to ensure optimal wellness.
